I have found Corporal John West in the OFFICIAL ROSTER
OF THE SOLDIERS OF THE STATE OF OHIO IN THE WAR OF THE REBELLION,1861-1865. VOL. V. He was listed with E Company 55th Ohio Infantry. Aged 38 years when mustered in on October 1 1861 3 year service, discharged on July 23, 1863 at Alexandria, Virginia on Surgeon's certificate of disability.
