Daniel E. Shaw (1954-2003)
11/22/54 ~ 4/4/03
Daniel E. Shaw was relieved of his seven year battle with leukemia April 4, 2003. He fought valiantly and with humor and is now in the loving embrace of our Heavenly father and the loving arms of his mother.
Dan was born Nov 22, 1954 in Salt Lake City, UT to Elmore Shaw Jr. and Mollie Louise Daniels. The family moved to Murray in 1966. Married Becky McBride Dec 9, 1978.
He attended McMillan Elementary, Hillcrest Jr. High, Murray High School and graduated in 1973. Then he attended Snow College in Ephraim, UT, graduating in 1977, where he spent three years forming friendships that have lasted his lifetime. Dan had a great love for people of any race, religion, social or economic background. He was at his best when he was just being "me" and sharing himself with others.
Dan is survived by his wife; children, Aliscia Cosby (Billy), Elder Chris M. Shaw (OK City, OK), Megan Shaw; father, Elmore Shaw, Jr.; sister, Brenda R. Carter (Rodney); father and mother-in-law, George A. and Carol W. McBride; sisters-in-law, Stephanie Henrie (Burke), children, Jason, Brandon, Chris, Jeff, Sean (Krista), Shannon Mechling (Dan), children, Travis (Laci) Tina, Katy; brother-in-law, David McBride (Kathy), children, Adrianne, Melissa, Michael, Christina, Emily; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; niece, Courtney; and nephew, Kenneth Chaney.
Dan treasured and valued the friendships he attained over his lifetime. He was always ready to be a part of any social function being the free spirit he was and has now fully become. You are now truly the wind beneath our wings.
Preceded in death by his mother, Mollie Louise Daniels, and grandparents, A.D. and Georgianna Daniels.
Becky, Aliscia, Chris and Megan would like to express their deepest love and appreciation to Dr. Gregory J. Litton, Dr. Ina J. Amber and other doctors and staff at Utah Cancer Specialists and also to the nurses and CNAs on the 5th floor at Cottonwood who so lovingly and tenderly cared for both Dan and me these last few months of his life. We have been deeply humbled and richly blessed to have touched the hearts of so many and had it returned a hundred fold.
Services will be Wed. April 9, 2003 1 p.m. Murray LDS 1st Ward Chapel, 363 E. Vine St. Friends may call Tues. 6-8 p.m. Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary 4760 S. State St. and Wed. at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
