Richard Guy Selland, who was born in Vanport*, August 19, 1947, died Monday evening (Nov. 7, 1960) at the Bess Kaizer Hospital, after a brief illness.

Richard was an eighth grade student at George School, which he had attended since kindergarten. He was a member of St. Johns Assembly of God Sunday School, and Scout Troop No. 51, having just completed 3 years in Troop No. 76.

Rev. Cecil Slaughter will officiate at services this afternoon, Thursday, Nov. 10, at St. Johns Funeral Home, and vault interment will be in Sunset Hills Memorial Park.

Richard is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Avend W. Selland of 6809 N. Hudson St., brother Norman Dean and sister, Rhoda Lucille Selland; also grandparents, Mr. Elmer P. Wood and Mrs. Carrie Wood.

* The city of Vanport was located between Portland, Oregon & Vancouver, Washington on the Oregon side of the Columbia River. It was distroyed by a flood on May 30, 1948.
