Died at Forest City, Mo., on Sunday, Sept. 12th, 1874, Mrs. HENRIETTA VON LEUNEN, wife of Charles Von Leunen, Esq., aged 63 years, nine months and five days.
Mrs. Von Leunen was born of Lutheran parents, December 7th. 1810, in the village of Leunen, in the province of Westphalia, Germany. She was educated in the Parochial School of Leunen, and when but fourteen years of age was confirmed a member of the Reformed Lutheran Church. On the 4th of October. 1831, she was married to Charles Von Leunen, who both became the parents of twelve children, five of whom died in infancy, and one daughter, Minnie, wife of L. Zook (whose demise is still fresh in our memories) preceded her to the spirit land. In 1848 Mrs. Von Leunen with her husband and portion of the family, emigrated to the United States and settled in Johnstown, Pa., and the next year thereafter the balance of the family followed.
In 1866 Mr. and Mrs. Von Leunen came to Missouri and settled in Oregon. In 1873 they changed their residence to Forest City, where she completed her earthly pilgrimage. The sickness which terminated in death was general disability, caused by the extremely hot summer days.
Mrs. Von Leunen was a lady of many excellent traits of character. She enjoyed the respect of all who were acquainted with her. Her numerous friends, children and grand children, will greatly miss her from their society. But she has gone to her long home in heaven freed from the burdens of life, age and disease. Her funeral took place on last Sunday. Her remains were followed by a large crowd of people to Union Cemetery.
