Levi was a son of Thomas Armstrong and Mary C. Wadkins of Blount County Alabama. He married Nancy Syrena Cornelius July 8, 1860 in Blount County. No children were born to Levi and Nancy.
Levi served in Company I, 49th Alabama Regiment during the Civil War. He was captured at Port Hudson, Louisiana, July 9, 1863; paroled a few days later; appeared on a receipt for clothing November 20, 1863; paid December 4, 1863 for service from January 1 to April 30, 1863; no further record
Levi and Nancy came to Ellis County Texas in 1881.
