Henry "Maynard" Freeze was born January 24, 1884, in Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland, the son of John Henry "Harry" and Clara Eliza Parrish Freeze. On January 1, 1908, he and Mary Linnie Martin went off to Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland, and were quietly married by Rev. Evers. They were the parents of 5 son: Maynard Kenneth, Harold Martin, Victor Frederick, Robert K. and Derrell Rucker Freeze. Maynard and Mary separated around 1935, but were never officially divorced. He eventually moved to Washington, D.C., where he worked for the Almas Temple there. He passed away March 10, 1946, in Washington, D. C., while my father was serving in the U.S. Navy in Guam.
