When Jennie Margaret Perry was born her mother did not survive the childbirth. So her father, Turner H Perry was left with a newborn in need of care he could not fully offer her. Turner did not remarry till June 1882. He hired a wet nurse to help take care of Jennie for a while. All his four other children were 5 years old or younger at that time, so they couldn't help much.

Jennie was occupied as a housewife all her life, the mother of seven children who all grew into adulthood and had successful lives. She lived in Belton, Bell, Texas; Lampasas, Texas; Gatesville, Coryell, Texas; and ended her years in Canadian, Hemphill, Texas.
