Grace Mable was the daughter of Samuel Carrick and Laura Jackson (Wilhite) Dixon. She moved with her parent from Boone County, Missouri in abt 1908. She married James Frederick Schawo on Oct 16, 1910 in Ashland, Clark County, Kansas. They had six children: Ida Laura Lee, James Harold, Freda Mabel, Karleen Marguerite, Elmer Francis Schawo and Leland William Schawo. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Stories are told of her joining in "horse-play" with her children in and outside of the house. She was well loved by all who knew her.
