Birth: Apr. 21, 1925
Death: Jul. 29, 1994

The son of William and Anna O'Donnell, he was an internist with offices in Town and Country before he retired two years ago. For 40 years, he was on the staff at St. John's Mercy, where he interned and completed his residency after graduating from the St. Louis University Medical School in 1948. He provided free medical care for many priests and nuns here, including those assigned to the St. Louis Catholic Archdiocese's mission in Bolivia. He was born in St. Louis. Dr. O'Donnell served in the Army in World War II and during the Korean War, when he ran a prisoner-of-war hospital in Korea. In 1972 Pope Paul VI made him a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre for service to the Catholic Church. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Clement Catholic Church; with burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Among survivors are his wife, Eugenia ("Gene"); three daughters; three sisters; and a brother. (St. Louis Post-Dispatch - Sunday, July 31, 1994)
