Verla was the fifth of Jack and Naomi Misner Varnell's twelve children. She married Howard Milton Jones and they soon left Oklahoma, living at first in Needles, California, then moving to the Seattle area, where she lived the rest of her life. Verla was known for her devotion to her family and her strong work ethic, traits Jack and Naomi instilled in all their children. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and visiting her children and grandchildren, and was known for her quick laugh and fine sense of ironic humor. Although living far from her brothers and sisters, she kept in touch, and Christmas saw little gifts from her she had sewn herself. Verla is survived by five sons, two daughters, two granddaughters, a grandson, six sisters, and three brothers. Preceding her in death are her husband Howard and her brothers Gerald and Fred.
Many warm thanks to Darlene for sponsoring Verla's memorial!
