Son of Ira Willis Waldrip and Rebecca Crow.

Husband of Mry Elizabeth McGhee, married 26 Nov 1865 in Cherokee Co GA.. To this union nine children were born; William Clark, Lourena A., Ira Willis, John H., Sarah Rebecca, Mary Bethena, James E., George Washington, and Ava Elizabeth Waldrop.

Per Fold 3 he was a private, Company E, 43rd Georgia Infantry in Civil war

Eli was first married to a woman named Lucinda, born in Georgia about 1829-1831. They lived near Cumming, Forsyth County Georgia at the time of the 1850 and 1860 census. A fire killed all four of their children on April 1, 1859, the eldest being twelve years old. The parents were about a quarter mile from the house visiting a sick neighbor while the children slept.

I do not know when Lucinda died or if she separated from Eli. I found the story in-
