Mabel Brumm was a daughter of Benjamin F. Cooper (born about 1867) and Edith (Guyatt) Cooper (1883-1965). She was born and lived most of her life in Fort Madison, Iowa. Her parents were separated by 1910 and apparently divorced by 1920. Her family included one sister, Genevieve Marie "Mary" (Cooper) Richardson (1906-1993), and a sibling who died as an infant in 1909.

In 1922, Mabel married Byron Isaac "Bud" Brumm, the son of William Brumm (1850-1919) and Helena Vandalia (Thomas) Brumm (1854-1922). They operated a dry cleaning business in Fort Madison. She and Bud had no children.

Mabel Edna Brumm, 85, of the Donnellson Care Center, died 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 31, 1989, at the care center.

Born October 24, 1903, in Fort Madison, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Edith Guyatt Cooper. She married Byron I. Brumm December 23, 1922, in Fort Madison. He died January 8, 1951.

She was a lifelong resident of the Fort Madison area. She was employed with the W. A. Sheaffer Pen Company for 13 years. She and her husband owned and operated Brumm's Cleaners for 10 years. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was past matron and instructor of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Mary Jane Richardson, Fort Madison; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be until time of service at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison.

The service for Mrs. Brumm will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, with the Reverends. F. F. Francis and W. R. Tripp officiating.

Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
