John Benjamin Anderson
Birth: Mar. 10, 1891
Death: Sep. 1, 1976

United States Army Major General. Born in Waxabachie, Iowa, he graduated from the US Military Academy West Point, in 1914 and was commissioned a Lieutenant in the Field Artillery. He served in France during World War I, graduated from Command and General Staff School in 1925 and the Army War College in 1928. He was with the War Department General Staff (1928-32) and in the office of the Chief of Field Artillery (1938-41). In October 1941, he was promoted Brigadier General and with advent World War II, was promoted Major General in August 1941. Through the coarse of the war, he was Commanding General of 102nd Infantry Division (1942-43) and Commanding General of the XVI Corps (1943-45). In 1946, he retired from active duty with decorations to include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit and Bronze Star Medal. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
