Online Obituary
Lenore Coble entered Heaven’s gates on January 6 with family surrounding her. She was born on December 6, 1933 to Thelma and Loren Gerardy in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Lenore attended country school through eighth grade and enjoyed growing up on a farm near Chandler. She enjoyed the outdoors, raising chickens, and helping with the gardens. In the summer of ’47 they moved into Chandler, OK. She became active in the Methodist Church youth group where she was baptized. She also enjoyed attending dances and playing in the marching band. She was Band Queen during her junior year and graduated in 1951. Lenore attended Oklahoma State University where she met a young Naval Reserve, Jim Coble. Soon after, Jim was called to active due to the Korean War. On December 24, 1952 while Jim was home on Christmas leave they were married in Oklahoma City. During Jim’s service time, they lived in San Diego and after his discharge they followed Jim’s dream to go to South Dakota to farm and ranch. They settled in the Presho, SD area where they spent the next 47 years raising cattle and farming the land. Lenore was a busy farm wife and became known for her good southern cooking, her caring affection of their many pets, her hard work and her willingness to lend a hand to neighbors and friends. She was blessed with the gift of helping others with a smile and comforting those in need. She was very involved in church activities including teaching Sunday school and playing the piano for services. She enjoyed helping with many community activities. She was a 4-H leader for many years, a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and served the community in many other ways.

A few years after Jim’s death in 2001, Lenore moved to Rapid City to be close to her daughter Lori where she met many new friends at Sandstone Ridge and later at Edgewood Assisted Living. While living in Rapid City she enjoyed many concerts and plays, drives through the Hills, dog walks, looking at the flower gardens, and visiting with her neighbors. She continued to find ways to serve the Lord.

Even though losing loved ones and experiencing physical pain, Lenore always maintained her infectious sense of humor and always put her trust in the Lord continuing to serve others to the best of her ability. She looked forward to the perfect and beautiful eternal home that God has promised and prepared for those who love Him. Lenore earned her wings and is now rejoicing with Jesus.

Lenore will be forever remembered by children Dianne (Jerry) Juhnke, Enid, OK; Lori Coble, Rapid City; and David Coble, San Diego, CA. She is also fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Lance Juhnke, Brent (Nikki) Juhnke, and great grandchildren Leah, Ashton, and Lauryn; one brother Miller (Nina) Gerardy and in-laws Leon Fowler, Joe (Barbara) Coble, Betty (Gary) Duncan, and Jack (Rose Mary) Coble and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents, an infant sister and in-laws Johnnie and Delbert Collins, JD and Dorothy Coble, and Inez Fowler.

Private family graveside services will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to Rapid City Regional Hospice House or the Coble Family Scholarship at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.
