David was married to Mary Everman on June 12, 1853, at Knox County, Missouri by Minister E.K. Eads.

David Jameson COE, JR., was born in 1823 in Loudoun County, VA. In 1839 he went with his family to Knox County, MO. In 1850 he and his brother Edward went to California, where they prospected for gold in the Sacramento area. He went on to Washington County, Oregon Territory, where he worked as a carpenter. On July 25, 1862, he enlisted in Lewis County, MO, as a private with Company B, NE Missouri Cavalry, Confederate Army, and was killed in the line of duty at Quincy, IL. His brothers Edward and Cornelius traveled there to recover his body, which was returned to Missouri for burial.
