Martha Ann Buffaloe Bernard, age 85, died December 27, 1915 in Madison County, Alabama, probably near Toney where she had lived most of her life. Burial was at Madison Crossroads Cemetery. She was born December 18, 1830 in Wake County, North Carolina, the daughter of William Emery & Mahaley Beasley Buffaloe. Her first sibling born in Alabama was born in January, 1839. Martha married John Bernard in Madison County, Alabama, in January of 1851. John Bernard had immigrated from France. Their 5 children were Lawrence H., Hardy T., Agness, Didany, and John Porter. I have not found the date or place of her husband, John Bernard's, death but their last child was born in 1865 and Martha was listed as a widow on the 1870 census. I also have no record of where her parents died and were buried but was told they were buried on their homeplace near Toney.
