PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Lucille Mae Culp-Mierau, 85, was born in Wakarusa, Ind., on March 1, 1923, and passed away in Phoenix on Jan. 3, 2009.
She was a loving mother to Judith E. and Dennis E. Culp. Her hobbies included painting, crocheting, ceramics, bowling and taking care of others. She was a very kind-hearted, soft-spoken soul who always had a quick smile and never had a cross word to say of anyone.
She was most proud of her family famous pineapple cheesecake.
She was blessed with three grandchildren, Kristine Clement of Phoenix, Karen Padilla of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Antonio Palacios of Phoenix. Lucille has one great-granddaughter, Keileen Padilla of Flagstaff.
Lucille was pre-deceased by Earl Culp, her first husband and father of her children, and Jacob Mierau, her second husband.
She is survived by her siblings, Kenneth L. Miller, Irene Rhienhiemer, Velma Gorce, Ruth Ann McGinnis and Phyllis Troyer, all of Indiana. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dale, Harold and Ora Miller.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 27, 2009, at the Silverwood Mennonite Church, 1712 W. Clinton St., Goshen. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the church on Friday, Jan. 16, 2009. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Tucson, Ariz., on Jan. 10.
