Bobby was a PFC in the 1st Bat., 26th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division,in Vietnam. Serial # RA 15719060. Died of wounds received in hostile ground action in Vietnam where he commenced his tour on May 29, 1966. Heard that he threw his body on a grenade to save his friends. He was a small man with a big heart.
Bobby was born in Pennsylvania the son of Boyd and Marjorie Hopkins Thomas. He was a Windham resident for several years and attended Windham High School prior to entering the Army. He had served in Germany prior to going to Viet Nam.
Besides his parents he leaves two sisters, Bonnie Lee Zack, Jacqueline and his grandfather Virgil Hopkins. A brother Randy Dean Thomas died August 7, 1962.
