Death: Jun. 3, 1928

This man was a prisoner during the Civil War. I plan to get more information, dates, and a photo of the headstone, and add them here. There are some interesting details of this man giving the service when Union Gen. Thomas James Thorp died. Confederate Rev. Bell had been a prisoner of war under none other than Gen. Thorp.

Dr. Bell's service in the Confederacy was as R.N. Bell (just two of his three first initials). Find a Grave member Randy Fletcher tells me:
Born in Virginia about 1845, he died 6/3/1928 In Benton County. He served in the Confederate army under the name R.N. Bell as a private in Company I, 26th Virginia Infantry Batallion.

I'm not entirely clear if title should be Rev. or Dr., but I'll try to get it all straightened out. He definitely was a Presbyterian minister, and he also was a substantial supporter of Oregon State University athletics.

Tombstone also doesn't mention Rev. Bell, but says Dr. Bell. Maybe he was a Doctor of Theology?

There is a tiny inscription below his and his wife's name that looks like 23 PS with the 2 upside down. Perhaps that means the 23rd Psalm. I don't really know.

Between the lines was contributed by another FindAGrave Member on November 18, 2010. I haven't actually looke up the article he mentions, but I'm guessing it was written by my friend and fellow FindAGrave member, Randy Fletcher.
