One of 8 Philadelphia firefighters who died while fighting the monstrous 11-alarm fire at the Gulf Oil Refinery on Penrose Avenue in South Philadelphia. Fellow firefighter Joseph Wiley (who also perished in the fire) joined the Fire Department on the same day - January 6, 1969.

Aug. 17, 1975, ROGER T., JR. Beloved husband of Susanne (nee De Lisi), father of Maureen (?) yrs old & Roger T, III, 4 yrs. Old. Son of Rit (?) & Roger, brother of Bruce & Brian. Relatives & friends are invited to funeral Fri. 10 AM, from the Penna. Burial Co. Inc., 1327-29 S. Broad St. Mass of Christian Burial, Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul, 11 AM. Int. Holy Cross Cem. Viewing Thurs. eve."
