Marcian Evelyn Rose Jacobs was born December 31, 1921 in Tracey, Minnesota. A Houston resident since 1963 and active member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church. She became a R.N. then married Al Locker on January 5, 1946 in Seattle, Washington. They moved to Dallas and she worked as a hospital pediatric nurse. Later her life's work included volunteering at her children's schools. In 1963 they moved to Houston where Marcian was employed as a public health nurse for the City. In 1985 she retired after 22 years of service. She was a member of the Legion of Mary, Texas Nurses Association, Arabia Temple Patrol Ladies, and Assistance League of Houston. Marcian was blessed with a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed gatherings with friends playing Bridge, creating beautiful beading crafts, Bible study, and sewing for the Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital. Family events were filled with joy and laughter. As the matriarch of her family she provided great spiritual and familial leadership.
She will be missed but always remembered by her loving family: son, Albert L. Locker, Jr. and wife Suzanne; daughter, Barbara Hartsock and husband Warren; grandchildren: Patrick Heaton, Amy Villarreal, Albert "Bubba" Locker, III, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Rosary will be said March 9, 5:30 pm, then Visitation from 6 ? 8 pm at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home, San Saba, TX, 325-372-3923. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in San Saba, March 10, 11:30 am. Graveside services will be at Locker Cemetery, Locker, Texas. In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be sent to Catholic Charities. www.catholiccharities.org
