Officer William H. Anderson was shot and killed while outside of a known criminal hangout at Natural Bride and Vandeventer Ave. His body was found at 5:30 AM on February 10, 1924. He had gunshot wounds to the back of his head. Officer Anderson was only 54 years old.

No suspects were ever identified or apprehended in the cold-blooded murder of this officer.

Officer Anderson was a well-seasoned officer with the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department and was with the agency for 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, Lida, and his two children, at 4567 Clarence Ave.

His wake was held at Muller Undertaking Company, located at 5165 Delmar Ave.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery on February 13, 1924.

He was the son of David and Anna Anderson.
