Thomas J. Armstrong, 79, of Rushville died at 7:25 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2007 at Wesley Village Health Care Center in Macomb.
Born Feb 2, 1928 in Missouri Township in Brown County, he was the son of the late Ralph and Alline(Lawson) Armstrong. He married Mary L. Edwards on July 3, 1947 in Macomb. She survives.
He was a 1946 graduate of Rushville High School and attended Western Illinois University in Macomb. He worked 15 years for Kinney Shoe Company. In 1962 he returned to Rushville where he was a DX Gas Company bulk distributor. During this time he also drove a school bus for Schuyler Unit 1 School district. From 1971-1987 he owned and operated R&A Coin Wash in Rushville and also worked as a truck driver for Alexander Lumber and Rushville truck lines. He retired in 2001 as a bus driver from Schuyler County Mental Health Center.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a charter member of the Rushville Lions Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Gray of Colchester; five brothers, Jack(wife Marilyn),of Newport News,VA; Larry(wife Judy) of Concord, Russell Bradley of Meredosia, Lyle Bradley(wife Janet) of Liberty; Steve Bradley(wife Linda)of chapin; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Armstrong; two brothers, Raymond and Norman Bradley; three sisters, Dorothy Shank, Margie Allison and Lillian Cookson.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2007 at the First Methodist Church in Rushville with the Rev. Mary Arnold officiating. Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb
