He was born about 1665 in Colbach, Germany. He was married, 16 Aug 1701, to Maria Catherina Winth. He was a linen weaver by trade.

As Protestants, to escape persecution, they first fled to Holland and then to England. Queen Anne promised free land, 200 acres, plus food and supplies for a year to 10,000 of these Palatines if they would go to the New World. Upon reaching the colonies in America, in 1709, they were dumped out on the banks of the Hudson River. Left with no money, no food nor any livestock, they were put into work camps.

Simmendinger's list is a 1710 census of these people. Berhnard Rosenbalum, wife Catherine and 3 children where listed.

In 1712 he was listed with three adults and one child. (over 10 years was counted as adult) Heading west on their own these people walked every step of the way to the Swatara region of Pennsylvania.

This group with, Rev. John Stoever, organized the Lutheran church and began the cemetery in the churchyard. His son Anthony's marriage was recorded in the church records. It is believed Bernard died about 1730 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

His known children were; Anthony b-1702, Martinus b-1703 and Maria Catherine b-1705
