Rebekah Harrigill Barrett, 38, died of heart failure due to pulmonary hypertension, Monday, July 20, 2009, at at her home in Brookhaven.
Visitation was held Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 5 pm until 8 pm at Brookhaven Funeral Home at 894 Natchez Drive in Brookhaven, MS. Funeral services are 2 pm today at Brookhaven Funeral Home at 894 Natchez Drive with burial in the Fulton-Harrigill Family Cemetery in Hamburg, Franklin County, MS.
Brookhaven Funeral Home in Brookhaven, MS is handling the arrangements.
Rebekah was born in Jackson on October 23, 1970, and graduated from Mt. Paran Christian High School in Marietta, GA. She also attended college at Kennesaw State and Toccoa Falls College in Georgia.
Rebekah was a devoted Christian and served her church faithfully by singing in the choirs of both Central Baptist Church and Southway Baptist Church of Brookhaven.
Rebekah's beautiful smile and outgoing personality made her a remarkable and memorable employee of the Oak Tree Restaurant, T. H. Perkins Furniture, First Bank and Cellular South—all of Brookhaven.
Her parents confirmed that God had given Rebekah so very many heavenly gifts, not the least of which has now become her legacy to everyone who knew her—the ability to laugh at common everyday situations.
She was a devoted and dedicated mother for her young son, Cody Barrett, Jr., whom she loved deeply.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, formerly of Brookhaven, Bill and Carolyn McMullen and Ann Allred McMullen, and D. B. and Gertrude Harrigill.
Survivors include: her husband, SSG Cody Barrett, Sr. of Camp Shelby; her son, Cody Barrett, Jr., of Brookhaven; her mother, Betty McMullen Harrington and her husband, Jimmy of Brookhaven; her father, Alan Harrigill and his wife, Ann of Brandon; her grandmother, Trudy Prather Harrigill of Hattiesburg; and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Memorial gifts in honor of Rebekah's life may be made to Central Baptist Building Fund, 749 N. Jackson Street, Brookhaven, MS 39601 or Hospice Ministries, 397 Brookhaven Street, Brookhaven, MS 39601.
