Co B 11th Iowa Infantry
----------
From military records:
Beach, John M.
Age 23.
Residence New Providence,Ia.
Nativity Connecticut.
Enlisted Sept. 14,1861.
Mustered Oct. 1, 1861.
Died Jan. 12, 1862
Jefferson City, Mo.
------------------
There is some conflicting information on this.
US Register of Deaths of Volunteers 1861-1865 says he died at General Hospital St Louis of Pneumonia, however there is note in red saying Dept of Mo.
---------------
I'm assuming he was buried as unknown in Jefferson City National Cemetery. Abt 1867 union soldiers were exhumed and moved to nearby national cemeteries. Large numbers of the headboards were no longer legible or vandalized by the end of the war. These soldiers were buried as unknowns.
It is also possible he is buried as unknown in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery based on the Register information.
