Bill was born and raised in Chester graduating from Chester High School in 1948. He resided in Claymont, DE for more than 25 years before moving to Thornbury Twp. in West Chester in 1989. Bill retired in 1986 from Sun Oil Co. after 38 years of service in the Research & Development Lab. Bill was an avid bicyclist and NASCAR enthusiast. He was a 32 degree Mason with Masonic Lodge #236 in Chester. He enjoyed his home in Jupiter, FL, and spending time with his family, friends and his beloved grandchildren. Bill belonged to the Second Presbyterian Church of Aston. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He was the son of the late William C. and Carrie Hostetler Stewart. He is survived by his wife of 53 years: Doris (Marriott) Stewart; 1 son, Scott Stewart and his wife Deborah of Newark , DE; 1 daughter, Sandra Travers and her husband Kenneth of Avondale, PA; 1 sister, Sara Shipe of Grafton, WI; 5 grandchildren, Kristen, Brian, Hunter, Brandon, and Jacob.
Funeral Service, Saturday at 11 am at NOLAN - FIDALE FUNERAL HOME LTD., 5980 Chichester Ave, Aston with burial at Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood.
