The son of John & Susanna Fluck Dasher, in 1860, he was a laborer living with and/or working for wealthy lumber merchant Thomas H. Porter in Washington Township, Cambria County.
Civil War service record:
Private, Company G, 10th Pennsylvania Infantry. Mustered in April 22, 1861; mustered out July 31, 1861.
Private, Company E, 125th Pennsylvania Infantry. Enlisted Aug 13, 1862; Mustered out May 18, 1863.
Private, Company A, 55th Pennsylvania Infantry. Enlisted Feb 23, 1864; Prisoner from May 16 to April 29, 1865, with a stay in Andersonville; Discharged May 20, 1865.

After the war, he married Hannah Giles and fathered George W. (b. @1867), Samuel S. (b. @1869), Elizabeth (b. @1870), James H. (b. @1875), John J. (b. @1876), Lloyd (b. 02/23/81), and Charles Blaine & Harry Logan (b. @1884).
