Funeral services for Marshall N. Walton, 70, formerly of Unity, were held Wednesday, June 28, at 1 pm at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home in Fairfield. Burial was in the Quaker Hill Cemetery, South Unity, Maine. Arrangements were made by the Gormley Community Funeral Home, 335 Union St. Hackensack, New Jersey. Bearers were, Vernon Tweedie, Coburn Tweedie, Merton Bradford and Clayton Ames.
Mr. Walton, a resident of Unity for 42 years, died Friday, June 23, 1967 after a long illness at the home of his daughter, Marguerite Giordano, in South Hackensack, New Jersey.
Born in Presque Isle (Maine) on September 20, 1896, he was the Son of Nicholas and Edith (Moran) Walton. He was a retired employee of the Maine State Highway Department. Mr. Walton was a well known horse lover and trained horses at harness racing tracks in Florida and Georgia. Mr. Walton was a member of Harvest Moon Grange in Thorndike.
After being discharged from Lovejoy Manor Nursing Home in March, he was transferred from Waterville, Maine to New Jersey by ambulance.
Mr. and Mrs. Walton were married 50 years on April 14.
Surviving are his widow, the former Sarah Bucklin; daughter Mr. Roland Giordano; and two sisters, Mrs. Laila Winship of Unity and Miss Pearl Walton of Gray.
