I know very little about Leonard beyond what records can share. He was born in 1917, but I'm unsure where. His death certificate just says Minnesota but no birth record has been found. My guess in Benton County base on the 1920 census and the fact that his father was from that area.
His father died in 1920 and at some point between then and 1925 his last name was changed from Urbanski to Ervin by his mother. He may not even have been aware of the change since his death certificate listed his father's name as Stanley "Sam" Ervin.
His mother died in 1937 from the same TB that took his father. He spent time at her families farm in Roseau county through the years, a first cousin remembers him being there to help with harvesting. His occupation on his death certificate was listed as handyman and he apparently traveled back and forth between MN and TX doing just that.
His death certificate lists his marital status as divorced, and family oral history is that there was a wife and a child in WI. The story is that the son was killed in a car accident, but that there is also a grandchild. With no names it's hard to find any more information than that.
Leonard died in a care facility and is buried in TX.
