Bessie Mamie Havlik was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Slama Havlik. Bessie's birthplace remains unclear as she was born about the time that Joseph and Mary moved from Saline County Nebraska to Sheridan County near Rushville, Nebraska. It is not known if she was born before or after the move. As seen in newspaper articles below, the question of her birthplace remains unresolved.

Bessie's father, Joseph, farmed in western Nebraska near Rushville for several years. It is believed that Joseph took part in a Cherokee Outlet land rush into the newly opened Oklahoma lands in 1893. He moved his family to Oklahoma, first to Pawnee, Oklahoma and then to Lawton.

Bessie married Frank R. Beznoska in Lawton on September 6, 1904. They had one son, Raymond, who was born in Lawton. They moved back to Nebraska in 1918.

North Bend Couple to Mark Golden Wedding Anniversary

North Bend--Mr. and Mrs. Frank R. Beznoska will observe their golden wedding anniversary at an open house at their home Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. with a 6 p.m. dinner for relatives.

Beznoska was born near Morse Bluffs and Mrs. Beznoska was born near Crete. Both moved to Oklahoma where they met and were married in Lawton, Oklahoma Sept. 6, 1904.

The couple moved back to this vicinity in 1918. Since 1935 they have lived in North Bend.

Mr. and Mrs. Beznoska have one son, Raymond, who lives in North Bend and one grandson.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Beznoska Observe 50th Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Beznoska, long time residents of North Bend, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, Sunday, September 5th, by holding an open house at their home, from two to five in the afternoon. Nearly 150 guests were present. A dinner for about 50 relatives was served at six in the evening. The honored couple received many lovely gifts, cards and flowers. Long distance phone calls came from Lawton, Oklahoma, and Flint, Michigan. Out of town guests were present from Fremont, Schuyler, Cedar Bluffs, Milligan, Omaha, Nebraska and Thunder Hawk, South Dakota.

The attractive wedding cake was baked by their niece, Mrs. Louis Mastny, Jr. of Schuyler.

Funeral Services for Bessie Beznoska, 71, Held Here Saturday

Mrs. Bessie Beznoska, 71, for many years a resident of this community, died unexpectedly Thursday, November 12.

Bessie Mamie Havlik was born in Rushville, Nebr. on March 17, 1868. As a small girl she moved with her family to Lawton, Oklahoma. On Sept. 6, 1904 she was married to Frank Beznoska, to whom one son, Raymond, was born. They moved to Nebraska in 1918 and spent the last thirty-seven years in and near North Bend.

Mrs. Beznoska was a member of the Methodist Church and the Rebekah and Z.C.B.J. Lodges. Her husband preceded her in death in 1956.

Survivors are the son Raymond; one grandson, Kenneth; a brother Henry J. Havlik, Lawton, OK; a sister, Agnes LaHue, Pueblo, Colorado.

Funeral services were in the Methodist Church Saturday afternoon. The Rev. Hugh J. Hogchin officiated. Mrs. Willie Sellhorn accompanied by Mrs. Clarence Karsk, sang "Nearer My God To Thee" and "Going Home"

Pallbearers were Leonard Tomasek, Leland Tomasek, Louis Mastny Jr, Duane Arthur, Bob Allen, and Ernest Knears?

Burial was in Killian Cemetery in Saunders County.
