Gerhardt OberBoster was born in Hanover, Germany and immigrated to America in the mid 1800s. He worked hard and eventually married the daughter of the family he traveled with to his new life. In 1881 Gerhardt returned to Germany to bring his mother to America. Upon his return he followed his younger brothers lead and shorted his name to Boester. He occasionally went by"Fred".
