Andy L. Baggett, Olney HIgh school vocational agriculture teacher for 21 years died of cancer. He had been in ill health since 1958.
He graduated from Texas A&M College with a bachelor's degree and from Texas Tech College with a Master's degree. He taught vocational agriculture at Aspermont before moving to Olney in 1939. A.L. Baggett left quite an impression on many of the Olney High School students.
Baggett's first wife died in 1930.
He married Mildred Elkins King at Waco in 1953.
He was past president of the Olney Lions Club, a Mason and former active worker in the Olney Chamber of Commerce, especially in the chamber's agricultural program. He was a Methodist.
Due to failing health, he took a leave of absence from teaching duties in the Fall of 1959 and L.P. Bumpers was named as a substitute.
School was dismissed at 2:30 p.m. to allow faculty members and students to attend the funeral.
Survived by his wife; one daughter - Mrs. Charles Whisenhunt of Abilene; two brothers - Gordon Baggett of Houston and John Baggett of Shepherd; one sister - Mrs. E.F. Vaughan of Winters; one grandson.
