Professional Baseball Player. He was primarily a catcher and later became a player/manager for some of his teams. In 1871, he played for the Philadelphia Athletics who fishied first in the National Association standings. The next year, he and his team finished second. He was catching and managing the next seasons. He lead 10 games winning eight of them. He was with the Chicago White Stockings the next season, managing in 36 games and also catching. He won 18 games as manager that year. In 1875, he was with the Philadelphia Whites playing most of the games as first baseman. The National League formed the next year and was with the charter team of the Philadelphia Athletics back behind the plate. Eight years later, he was back in baseball with the Union Association team Philadelphia Keystones as the manager and played only one games behind the plate going 21-46 as manager.
