Michael was born to John Glass and Lucy Ann Duel in Pennsylvania. When he was a young boy the family moved from Luzerne Co., PA to Clark County, Missouri. It was here that his mother and a number of siblings passed away from 1848 - 1850. We believe they died during the Cholera Epidemic. He went west to California for the Gold Rush and then returned to Missouri sometime before 1866. He served in the Civil War in Kansas and married Sarah Cathern Daughters ( daughter of Wivel Cademus Daughters and Betsy Ann Carr) in Clark County, Missouri in 1866. They had a number of children and moved the family where they finally settled in Attica Township, Sedgwick Co., Kansas. They had a large amount of acreage and built a beautiful farmhouse. After his death in 1906 Sarah moved into Wichita and eventually built a house on Exposition Street where she died in 1932. The children were
