Russell H. Ballinger
BOSSIER CITY, LA - Services for Russell H. Ballinger, Lt. Col. (retired) USAF will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 17, 2010 at the Hill Crest Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Thursday, December 16,2010 at the Hill Crest Funeral Home.
Russ was born in Covington,KY on March 8, 1932. He passed away on December 13, 2010 at the Grace Home after a lengthy illness. He was a graduate of University of Western Kentucky and retired from the United States Air Force at Barksdale AFB after twenty years of service. He was a member of BAFB Chapel, MOAA, AFA, Bossier Optimist, Bossier's Sheriff Posse and a Tennessee Squire. Russ is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Alvina and sister Esther Wuebbling of Kentucky.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, June Ballinger; son Scott Ballinger and Patrick Brophy of Bossier City, LA; daughters Ronda Zachary and husband Paul of Bossier City, Karen Mitchell and husband Scott of Haughton; sister Doloris Staubach and family of Bellvue, KY; grandchildren Todd Zachary of Ruston, Matthew Zachary of UCF, Orlando, FL; Mark and Audrey Mitchell of Haughton; step-grandson Greg Zachary and family of Houston,TX; and a host of friends and hometown relatives in the Kentucky area.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Christus Schumpert Grace Home, for their kind and devoted care.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made in honor of Russ's memory to Christus Schumpert Grace Home or charity of donor's choice.
