The funeral for Marlene M. McDonnough, 73, of Stewartville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 4, 2010 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Stewartville with the Rev. Matt Fasnacht officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chatfield.

Mrs. McDonnough died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, of natural causes following a short illness at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester where she had been a patient for one week.

Marlene M. Erickson was born Jan. 17, 1936, to Kenneth and Audriene (Eggenberger) Erickson in St. Paul. She grew up in Lake City, where she attended St. Marys Parochial School and graduated from Lake City High School.

She was married on May 2, 195,5 in Lake City to Dewey K. Partello. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Killen, Texas, where Mr. Partello was serving in the U.S. Army. After his discharge, they moved to a farm in rural Stewartville. Mr. Partello died on Aug. 18, 1988.

Marlene was remarried in May of 1990 to John McDonnough at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Stewartville and they lived on the farm in rural Stewartville. Mr. McDonnough died in December of 1999.

Marlene moved to the Cottages of Stewartville, where she had lived until her recent illness. She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Stewartville, the Stewartville American Legion Auxiliary, the Stewartville V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Paternal Order of the Eagles Club in Rochester. She enjoyed her home, friends and family.

Survivors include a daughter, Barb (Joe) Thraenert of Elma, Iowa; three grandchildren, Emily (David) Smith of New Hampton, Iowa, Eric Thraenert and special friend Ashley Meirick of New Hampton, Iowa, and Andy Thraenert and special friend Kally Hotvedt of Rochester; two great-grandchildren, Taryn Smith and Camryn Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Dewey and John and special friend Les Wernimont in 2007, her parents and her son Michael.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday morning.

Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville.
