Mary Helen Armstrong, 94, of Sullivan, formerly of Boody, died 9:50 a.m. Sunday (May 15, 2011) in Mason Point, Sullivan. Memorial graveside services will be held at a later date. Mary requested that her body be donated to the Southern Illinois School of Medicine for medical research. Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at reedfuneral home.net. Mary was born January 14, 1917 in Lake City, IL, the daughter of James Robert and Hattie Wiedner Armstrong. She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church, Boody, taught Sunday School for several years and was a member of the Vivian Chapter # 344 of the Order of the Eastern Star for over fifty years. Surviving are her nieces; Margaret Payton of Decatur, Barbara Armstrong of Washington, MO; nephews, Jim Armstrong of Atlanta, GA and Gary Armstrong of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and their wives and two nieces. Obituary written by family members.
