He was the father of 7 children. Francis Colin, Samuel, John, James, Margaret, and Maria Louise.
Nicholas owned and ran a saw mill on Raccoon Creek, in Thivener.
The town of Thivener is named after him, there are multiple spellings of his last name, due to the French pronunciation.
