The Adam Frederick family lived in a one room log cabin from 1881 to 1888 which had been built by his father, all made out of rough material and put up with ax and auger. The Leonard Behler family had occupied this log cabin until about 1880 when a frame house was built. Then Adam Frederick, a son, occupied the log house from 1881 to 1888. Adam rented the family farm for nine years and then subsequently bought the homestead of 120 acres in 1893. He died 7 July 1914 at Lowell; after his death, the farm passed into the hands of his sons Allen Leonard. and John Elmer.
