Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until July 23, 1945.

Louis served as a Fireman, Second Class, U.S.S. Dorado (SS-248), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Oneida County, New York prior to the war.

Louis was declared "Missing In Action" when the Dorado was sunk, possibly by a mine laid by German U-214, off Panama during the war.

Service # 6009322

He also has a Cenotaph in the St. Peter's Cemetery, Rome, New York.
