Richard J. McCarthy, 65, a resident of Brockton, died at Tower Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Canton on Saturday, June 1. Born and raised in Boston, he was a graduate of Catholic Memorial High School and Stonehill College. Mr. McCarthy served in the U.S. Navy and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked as a medical technologist for the VA Medical Center in West Roxbury for several years. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, golfing and traveling with his family.

Mr. McCarthy is survived by his sons, Kyle and Ian McCarthy, both raised in Bridgewater. He was the brother of William McCarthy of Ormond Beach, FL and the late Eileen Marston. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Thursday, June 6 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory may be sent to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or www.cancer.org.
