h/o Charlotte Saxbee
married 3 Feb 1855
Beachville, Ontario

occupation: teamster, brickmaker, farmer

s/o George and Elizabeth Shular Sr.

Thomas was born in Lower Canada (present day Quebec) shortly after immigration from England, as family made their way to Hamilton via the St. Lawrence and Lake Ontario.

Father George Sr. immigrated first, received land grant in St. Vincent (Grey Co.) as a discharged solider of the British Army (War of 1812, Battle of New Orleans) and then (presumably) returned to England for his family.

Family remained in Hamilton while homestead in St. Vincent was prepared and land cleared for farming. George Sr. also served in the 1837 Rebellion while based in Hamilton. Family many years later migrated to Bruce Co.

The surname Shular/Shuler of this family is from ENGLAND and was originally spelled Shouler/Showler and sometimes Shoulder in Alyesbury, Buckinghamshire records where old George Sr. comes from.

They are not associated with the 'German' Schuler descendants of Bruce Co. or elsewhere in Ontario.
