According to the VINTON MEMORIAL, James resided in East Stoughton. His children were baptized in present Randolph. He removed by 1781 to Willington, Conn. where his father-in-law, David Vinton, also went.

*REVOLUTIONARY PARTIOT: a Corporal in Capt. Eliphalet Sawen's co. of Minute-men; in Col. Benjamin Linclon's (Lincoln's) regt., which assembled April 19, 1775; service, 8 days; also, in Capt. Seth Turner's (Independent) co.; enlisted May 8, 1775; service, 8 mos., 1 week, 6 days.

James is believed to be buried in Old Willington Hill Cemetery
Willington Hill, Tolland County Connecticut near the David and Ruth Vinton family or near his children, but no stone has been found after diligent searching. Nor is there a reference in the Hale Records.

According to Brianz190, "His marker is either unreadable and has been for over eighty years, he's not there, never had a marker or the marker wasn't one to withstand New England weather and no longer exists."
