Benjamin Preston Abbott was born November 3, 1873, in Oconee County, South Carolina to John Benjamin Abbott (b. 1839, S.C.) and Elizabeth Patience Carpenter (b. 1842, S.C.). He stood 6 feet tall, had blue eyes and dark hair and light complexion. He was a rancher in Bovina, Parmer County, Texas. He joined the Texas Loyalty Rangers in June 6, 1918--February 23, 1919. He was married to Mae Elizabeth Messenger. The date of marriage was September 4, 1913. They were married in the Congretional Church in Friona, Parmer County, Texas. A son, John Benjamin, was born to them on 1916 in Texas. Benjamin Preston Abbott died in 1957 in Clovis, Curry County, New Mexico.

According to the emblems on the headstone, Benjamin Preston Abbott had been a Mason, Eastern Star and Shriner. There is one more emblem I cannot make out. It is the 3rd from the left.
