WWII Navy Veteran who served as a torpedoman on PT boats in the Mediterranean Ocean where he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart.
He is a graduate of the University of Buffalo and beloved, long time Orchard Park High School football coach, teacher and principal. He was the first Inductee into the Orchard Park Athletic Hall of Fame on 20 May 1997. Harry Wilhelm Field named in his honor

Harry was a member of Motor Torpedo Squadron 22 (MTB RON 22), which was commissioned 10 November 1943, operated under the British Coastal Forces and saw action along the northwest cost of Italy and southern coast of France. In April of 1945 the squadron was shipped to the U.S. for refitting and transfer to the Pacific, but the war ended while still in New York. The boats in this squadron were Higgins 78 foot PTs 302 through 313.
