AGE: 77 • Monroe Twp.Frank Allen Taylor, Sr. passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, after a short illness. He was 77 years old. Mr. Taylor was born in Plainfield, NJ to the late Hugh and Emily Taylor. He lived for many years in Princeton, NJ, before settling in Monroe Township. Frank proudly served in the United States Navy from 1956 - 1960 aboard the USS Antietam as an electronic technician. He was a firefighter with the Newark Fire Department and Fire Chief at the Middlesex Borough Volunteer Fire Company. He received a degree from Rutgers University in Computer Science. He worked for IBM as a computer engineer and taught computer science night classes at Middlesex County College in Edison. Frank was also employed by Saint Peter's Medical Center as a Data Processing Manager, where he first met his loving wife Kathleen. He started his own computer consulting company, Taylor Made Programming. He worked as an IT Consultant for over 30 years. He retired from Allied Barton Security Service in 2011; he returned and continued his career there until 2014. Frank loved model railroading and built his own layouts and train sets. He also loved motorcycling with his wife Kathleen and traveled all over the United States and parts of Canada on their beloved "Goldwing" motorcycle. He also enjoyed woodworking, making furniture and toys for his granddaughter. Frank was also an avid New York Giants and New York Yankees fan. He is a member of the NJ MRA, NMRA, Middlesex Borough Fireman's Relief Association, the USS Antietam Association and was a former member of the GWRRA, where he served as newsletter editor.Frank is predeceased by his brother, Hugh Taylor, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Kathleen Taylor (Taormina); his sons, Frank Jr. and his fiancé Jodi of Iowa, Scott of Bridgewater, and John and his wife Jacqueline of South Plainfield; his daughter, Cheryl Ann and her husband Matthew of Millstone Township; his grandchildren, Joshua, Danielle, Emily and Hannah Michelle; his great grandchild, Cheyenne; many family members and friends.Services will be private per family request and were made under the Gleason Funeral Home.
