He was the second born of Anabell West Banks and Lansdell Banks, Sr. He was a native of Burke county and a longtime resident of Savannah and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. He worked for the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad for most of his life and retired from it 1987 after 39 years of employment. He was a past local chairman of United Transportation Union. He died from pneumonia resulting from Supra Nuclear Gauge Palsy. He was married to Wynell Turner Banks and had three children (Janice, Beverly, & Craig). He loved to fish and hunt and enjoyed gardening in his backyard.
