Statesboro - Mrs. Virginia Kenan Kern, 79, died Wednesday at Bulloch Memorial Hospital after a long illness. The Bulloch County native was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, a retired senior legal secretary for Johnston and Brannen Law Firm after 31 years of service and a former loan assistant to attorney George M. Johnston. She was a member of Treasure Seeker Sunday school class at First United Methodist Church, past president of Statesboro Business and Professional Women's Association and a member of Civic Garden Club and Bulloch County Historical Society.
Surviving are a son, Kenan J. Kern; a granddaughter, Miss Mary B. Kern, both of Abingdon, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Annie K. Parrish; a brother, J. Shields Kenan, both of Statesboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral: 3 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church, burial in Eastside Cemetery. Hodges-Turner Funeral Home.
