Cordelia Youtsey was born in Jackson County, Indiana, February 5, 1834, and died at her home in Russell, May 15, 1908, at the age of 74 years, 3 months and 10 days, after an extended illness with a complication of diseases. She was united in marriage to William Goltry, October 30, 1851.

In the fall of 1853 they came to Iowa, locating on a farm northeast of Russell, where they resided until 1901, when they removed to Russell, where Mr. Goltry died Nov. 28, 1903. They were the parents of 10 children, six of whom are living, and were with her during her illness, with the exception of Charlie, who resides at Enid, Oklahoma.

She united with the Christian Church when sixteen years of age, and has lived a consistent Christian life and assured her friends that she was prepared to go when summons came. Other children living are Mrs. Eva Murray and Will Goltry of Russell, David of Oskaloosa and Mesdames H. W. and G. J. Gittinger of Chariton. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Scott of Chase, Kans., and two brothers, John and Herman Youtsey, of Loveland, Colo.

Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. DeGafferelly, Pastor of the Christian Church, and the remains interred in the Russell Cemetery.
